The Sudanese Journalists Union (SJU) announced the start of a process to review and revise its journalists’ registry, in implementation of the provisions of the Public Law and the Press and Publications Act of 2009.
The union said the step aims to update the records of around 7,000 registered journalists and remove the names of members found to have committed clear violations of the union’s constitution, the Press and Publications Act, and the journalists’ code of conduct.
It added that the measures will include striking offending members from the union’s lists in accordance with the regulations and rules governing journalistic practice.
