The Wali of Kassala State, Major General (Ret.) Al-Sadiq Mohamed Al-Azraq, met on Monday at his office at the Government Secretariat with the Director of the UNESCO Office, Ahmed Junaid Soroush, in the presence of the Minister of Education and Guidance, the Director of the Guidance Sector, and the Director of Kassala Radio and Television Corporation.
The meeting reviewed UNESCO’s activities and programmes implemented in the state during the previous period, as well as ongoing initiatives in the sectors of education, culture, media, and intangible cultural heritage. Discussions also covered the shared vision between the state government and UNESCO, including support for the media sector through Kassala Radio and Television Corporation, particularly in countering hate speech and promoting coexistence and community peace.
The Wali welcomed the UNESCO delegation, underscoring the importance of the organization’s programmes in supporting vital sectors due to their direct impact on society. He reaffirmed the Kassala State Government’s support and encouragement for UNESCO’s projects, with particular emphasis on technical education and strengthening the education and media sectors.
