The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) announced that it has documented more than 10,000 museum artifacts in Sudan as part of its efforts to protect the country's cultural heritage and preserve museum collections.
UNESCO said the project is being implemented in cooperation with Sudan's Ministry of Culture, Information, Tourism and Antiquities, the National Corporation for Antiquities and Museums, and international partners. The initiative also supports the recovery of 570 stolen cultural objects and strengthens the capacity of national institutions responsible for safeguarding cultural heritage.
