Khartoum (Nabaa Sudan) — Egypt’s Ambassador to Sudan, Yasser Abdel-Rahman Ali Sorour, stressed the importance of ensuring that Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue remains entirely Sudanese-owned and led, reaffirming Egypt’s consistent position in support of creating the conditions for dialogue and restoring stability in Sudan.
Speaking after meeting with the Preparatory Committee for Sudanese-Sudanese Dialogue at the committee’s headquarters in Khartoum on Saturday, Sorour said the meeting addressed the importance of ensuring that the dialogue is genuinely Sudanese-Sudanese and owned and led by the Sudanese leadership.
“We reviewed Egypt’s efforts to restore stability in Sudan,” he said, noting that stability in Sudan is directly linked to the national security of both Egypt and Sudan.
The Egyptian ambassador expressed his hope for further meetings with the Preparatory Committee for Sudanese-Sudanese Dialogue as part of ongoing consultations on the dialogue process and efforts to restore stability.
These remarks come amid the Sudanese-Sudanese Dialogue Preparatory Initiative, launched on August 30, 2026, to build confidence and create a conducive environment for comprehensive dialogue to be held inside Sudan under an exclusively Sudanese will.
The Preparatory Committee is responsible for laying the groundwork for dialogue, facilitating the process, listening to the positions of the various parties, and bringing their viewpoints closer together, without imposing a prior agenda or a predetermined roadmap. The initiative has received responses from political, civil and community groups, as well as a welcome from the African Union, the League of Arab States, and a number of regional and international countries and organizations.
