Sudan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Mohieddin Salem, met with Portugal’s Foreign Minister Paulo Rangel on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The minister briefed his Portuguese counterpart on developments in Sudan, as Portugal prepares to assume its non-permanent membership on the UN Security Council starting next January.

The two sides agreed to maintain communication and coordination in the coming period, while the Portuguese foreign minister affirmed that his country would adopt a positive and constructive position on the Sudan file at the Security Council.
