Khartoum, (Nabaa Sudan) – Sudan Customs Forces will begin expanding the Advance Cargo Declaration (ACD) system to the country’s remaining ports and customs border crossings in early October, following the successful rollout of the system at the South Port in Port Sudan.
Customs said the expansion aims to modernize customs operations, align with international trade facilitation standards, and streamline the movement of goods as part of the state’s digital transformation drive.
Chairman of the Higher Committee for Advance Cargo Declaration, Major General (Police) Amir Zein Al-Abdeen Omer, said the system enables traders and importers to submit shipment data and documents before cargo arrives, allowing procedures to be completed in advance, shortening customs clearance times, reducing cargo waiting periods, and cutting storage costs.
He added that the system will enhance transparency, reduce errors and paperwork, curb commercial fraud and document manipulation, and strengthen the efficiency of customs controls while safeguarding state revenues.
Omer said the expansion is part of Customs Forces’ efforts to advance digital transformation and harmonize procedures with relevant agencies, with the ultimate goal of extending the system to all imports into the country.
