Khartoum (Nabaa Sudan) – The General Authority for Geological Research has recovered a Swedish-made Terrameter LS2 geophysical exploration device, currently valued at US$80,000, after it was lost during the war. The device was found by a citizen who kept it safe before handing it over to the Swedish manufacturer’s authorized agent in Sudan.
The Authority’s Director-General, Geologist Ahmed Haroun Al-Tom, received the device from Geo Earth for Integrated Solutions, the authorized agent of the Swedish manufacturer in Sudan, which facilitated its return to the Authority.
The Authority explained that the device is an essential tool for geophysical, geological, and mineral exploration. It supports the Authority’s field survey programmes and strengthens its technical capabilities.
The General Authority for Geological Research expressed its gratitude and appreciation to the citizen who found the device, kept it safe, and subsequently handed it over to the manufacturer’s agent in Sudan.
The Authority noted that it purchased the device in 2017 through the manufacturer’s authorized agent, adding that its current value stands at US$80,000.
