The Economic Task Force established to develop urgent measures to address economic challenges related to exports and imports met on Thursday under the chairmanship of Minister of Finance Gebreil Ibrahim to discuss the regulation of border trade as part of efforts to strengthen commercial exchange and promote economic development.

During the meeting, Minister of Industry and Trade Mahasin Ali Yagoub presented a report on border trade, underscoring the importance of reviewing all aspects of cross-border commerce to safeguard mutual economic interests with neighbouring countries.

The meeting agreed on the need to review the lists of commodities traded through border trade arrangements and to strengthen coordination and integration between the federal government and state governments to ensure the effective implementation of trade policies aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the national economy.

Participants also recommended strengthening the capacity of the relevant authorities to combat smuggling and enhancing border controls to ensure that trade flows through the state's official channels.
