Undersecretary of the Ministry of Animal Resources and Fisheries Dr. Ammar Al-Sheikh Idris praised the continued development of bilateral relations between Sudan and Indonesia across various fields, particularly in the areas of livestock and fisheries resources.
This came during his meeting at his office with Sudan's Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia Yasser Mohamed Ali, in the presence of several directors of directorates at the ministry.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation and open new opportunities for Indonesian companies to invest in meat production and processing, establish modern abattoirs meeting international standards, and set up facilities for processing meat and its products. Discussions also covered training and capacity building in aquaculture, livestock breeding, and animal disease diagnosis.
Dr. Ammar emphasized that partnership with the Indonesian side would contribute to increasing and processing meat production in line with international standards, thereby enhancing export opportunities. He added that such cooperation would also support the rehabilitation and training of ministry staff in veterinary research, diagnostics, vaccine production, and livestock and fisheries production.
The Undersecretary pointed out that the ministry has developed a strategic plan to attract foreign investment and upgrade infrastructure in the livestock and fisheries sector, creating added value while benefiting both producers and exporters.
For his part, Ambassador Yasser Mohamed Ali affirmed the Sudanese Embassy's commitment in Indonesia to providing all necessary facilities and support to link Indonesian companies with their Sudanese counterparts. He noted the strong interest on the Indonesian side in establishing genuine investment partnerships in Sudan to achieve the desired objectives of developing the livestock sector.
