The Sennar State Ministry of Animal Resources and Fisheries has received from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) an integrated solar-powered cold-chain system designed to preserve livestock vaccines and support veterinary health services.

The unit will serve Abu Eraif area in Al-Dali and Al-Mazmum Locality, where seasonal isolation during the rainy season and unreliable electricity supplies make the safe storage of vaccines particularly challenging.

FAO said the initiative is part of its vaccine cold-chain program, which aims to ensure the proper storage and availability of veterinary vaccines while also supporting the collection of samples for animal disease surveillance and epidemiological surveys.

The organization also noted that similar vaccine-cooling units have been distributed to Al-Azaza Damous in Al-Dinder Locality and Al-Dali, strengthening veterinary services and improving access to reliable vaccination facilities in vulnerable and hard-to-reach areas.
