Sudan’s Minister of Minerals, Noor Al-Daem Taha, announced the launch of consultations with the World Bank Group to finance strategic infrastructure projects, support local communities, and build capacity, as part of the government’s efforts to promote sustainable development and stimulate economic growth.
The minister stated in a press briefing today, Thursday, on the sidelines of the 5th International Mining Conference in Riyadh, that the discussions with Valérie Lefkoff, World Bank Vice President for Infrastructure, focused on Sudan’s substantial potential in industrial and critical minerals, which offers promising opportunities for investment and the development of value-added chains.
Taha highlighted the World Bank’s crucial role in supporting the minerals sector through modern technologies, particularly in digital exploration and production, connecting Sudan to global innovation hubs, and strengthening partnerships with international institutions and the private sector.
He added that both sides agreed to coordinate efforts to hold an expanded meeting soon to discuss proposed projects and develop a clear roadmap to advance them toward implementation.
