Doha, (Nabaa Sudan) – Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Dr. ‎Gebreil Ibrahim, accompanied by Central Bank of Sudan (CBOS) ‎Deputy Governor Dr. Sami Abdel-Hafeez, participated in the 11th ‎Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure ‎Investment Bank (AIIB), held in Doha on September 28–29, 2026.‎

The meeting brought together finance and economy ministers, central ‎bank governors, senior officials, and representatives of financial and ‎development institutions from member countries.‎

Sudan’s participation underscores its efforts to strengthen its ‎engagement in international economic and financial forums, expand ‎cooperation with financial and development institutions, and place ‎recovery and reconstruction priorities at the center of international ‎partnerships and development financing.‎

Sudan’s priorities at this stage include moving from the repercussions ‎of the war toward recovery and reconstruction, restoring basic ‎services, rehabilitating infrastructure, and revitalizing productive ‎sectors, particularly energy, water, transport, digital infrastructure, and ‎agriculture, while supporting the private sector and creating a ‎conducive investment environment.‎

The meeting also provides an opportunity for Sudan to discuss ‎cooperation with AIIB, present national projects and priorities, explore ‎suitable financing instruments for high-impact development projects, ‎and draw on international expertise in infrastructure development and ‎mobilizing long-term investment.‎

The Sudanese delegation is also holding discussions with leaders of ‎financial and development institutions and participating officials to ‎explore new areas of cooperation and expand partnerships, while ‎strengthening the private sector’s role in reconstruction, investment, ‎and production.‎

Sudan’s participation reflects the government’s drive to broaden ‎international partnerships and mobilize the resources and expertise ‎needed to rebuild the economy, lay the foundations for stability, ‎recovery, and development, restore economic activity, and unlock ‎wider prospects for investment and growth.‎
