The Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries in Sennar State distributed fishing equipment provided by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency TIKA to fishermen’s associations across the state.

The assistance included wooden boats, refrigerators, fishing rods, and various fishing tools.

Director General of the ministry, Mawahib Al-Amin Yousuf, said the support aims to improve household livelihoods, increase fishermen’s incomes, combat poverty, and rehabilitate youth, noting that the distribution covered 10 registered associations across all localities in the state.

The ministry said the support comes amid the loss of fishermen’s equipment and their reliance on traditional tools, while fisheries authorities urged beneficiaries to preserve the equipment to boost production and productivity.
