Mubarak Ardol, a leader in the Democratic Bloc, said that tens of thousands of internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Dilling, Kadugli, and surrounding areas have arrived in Khartoum and White Nile states, where they are facing dire humanitarian conditions amid shortages of shelter, food, and basic services.
Ardol also reported a rise in measles cases in the city of Kosti, noting that the disease has claimed the lives of two children, while several others remain in critical condition. He warned that the outbreak could worsen with the onset of the rainy season.
He called on the governments of Khartoum and White Nile states, as well as humanitarian organizations and United Nations agencies, to intervene urgently by providing humanitarian assistance, healthcare services, and vaccination campaigns.
