Khartoum, (Nabaa Suda) – The United Nations condemned a drone attack carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia on a displacement site in Wad Al-Mahi, Blue Nile Region, which killed and injured dozens of people, most of them women and children, according to preliminary information. Some of the injured sustained serious wounds.
Denise Brown, the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Sudan, expressed her shock at the attack, stressing the need to hold those responsible for violations accountable and ensure respect for international humanitarian law.
The statement noted that the displaced people had fled recent hostilities in Geissan and Al-Kormuk localities. It also highlighted continued attacks in parts of the Blue Nile Region, which have displaced thousands of civilians and put their lives at risk.
The statement further recalled a similar attack on a shelter for displaced people in El-Obeid, North Kordofan State, a week earlier, which left civilians dead and injured.
