Wad Al-Mahi, Blue Nile Region (Nabaa Sudan) – A UN and humanitarian delegation led by UN Resident Coordinator Denise Brown visited several shelters for displaced people in Wad Al-Mahi locality, Blue Nile Region, to assess humanitarian conditions and basic needs and inspect a proposed site for a new displacement shelter.
Brown expressed her sorrow over the attack on the Abu Shandi displacement shelter, stressing the importance of protecting civilians, displaced people and humanitarian workers. She also praised local communities for welcoming displaced families and providing them with support.
For his part, Wad Al-Mahi Commissioner Mahjoub Al-Sheikh Al-Khalifa called for urgent preparations at the proposed site, including the erection of tents and the provision of water, healthcare and environmental sanitation services, to address the growing humanitarian needs in the area.
