Algeria announced Thursday that it was severing diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), citing what it described as increasingly “provocative or hostile” actions by Abu Dhabi.
The Algerian Foreign Ministry said the decision followed the exhaustion of all avenues to preserve bilateral relations, noting that Algeria had repeatedly warned the UAE of the consequences of what it called “regrettable and unjustified” conduct.
The UAE ambassador was formally notified of the decision at the Foreign Ministry and given 48 hours to comply.
