Trump: U.S. Will Resume Military Strikes on Iran if Nuclear Talks Fail

U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States would resume military strikes against Iran if negotiations on a final nuclear agreement fail, affirming that an understanding had been reached with Tehran to ensure freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.

Trump added that a proposal to suspend uranium enrichment activities for between 15 and 20 years remains under negotiation, noting that the agreement was reached despite objections from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

He also announced the lifting of the naval blockade on Iran.

Meanwhile, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the understanding includes ending hostilities on multiple fronts, including Lebanon.
