The United Nations announced that it has taken note of the peace initiative presented by Sudanese Prime Minister Kamil Idris, emphasizing the importance of advancing efforts to end the war.

The UN spokesperson’s office said that Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stressed that working toward a lasting and comprehensive peace remains a top priority, especially as the war enters a new year.

It added that the UN envoy to Sudan, Ramtane Lamamra, is fully prepared to continue consultations with both parties to the conflict, with the aim of reaching a comprehensive and sustainable solution.
