Senior Adviser to US President Donald Trump for Arab and African Affairs Massad Boulos said the United States rejects any parallel entities in Sudan and deals only with the country’s recognized government, stressing that Washington does not place the Sudanese government on an equal footing with any parallel body.

Boulos added that there is consensus within the international Quartet on implementing a ceasefire in Sudan as soon as possible, noting that ongoing efforts are under way to achieve that goal. In statements to Al Arabiya TV, he said the United States maintains communication with all parties in pursuit of peace while adhering to its position of recognizing only the legitimate Sudanese government.
