Sudan’s Attorney General, Intisar Ahmed Abdel-Aal, said the Sudanese government maintains its position that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) provided direct support to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, noting that this contributed to prolonging the war and the violations accompanying it.
In a recorded statement to the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, held in the UAE, Abdel-Aal added that Sudan’s refusal to accept Abu Dhabi as the host of the conference was based on legal, principled, and ethical considerations related to respect for the rule of law, international law, international humanitarian law, and the Charter of the United Nations.
She affirmed that Khartoum is raising the issue within the framework of the principles of international criminal justice and the international community’s responsibility to promote respect for the law and hold perpetrators of crimes and violations accountable, rather than considering it a political dispute.
