The Chairman of the National Committee for Mobilization and Popular Resistance, Lt. Gen. Bashir Maki Al-Bahi, affirmed the continued support of the Popular Resistance for the Sudanese Armed Forces across various fronts, praising recent military gains, particularly on the Blue Nile and West Darfur fronts, and stressing the importance of documenting militia violations to present the facts.
This came during the informational briefing organized by the Ministry of Culture, Information, Tourism and Antiquities and hosted by the Sudan News Agency (SUNA), which received the National Committee for Mobilization and Popular Resistance to discuss the launch of documentation publications on militia violations in the states at the Cultural Centre in Omdurman.
Al-Bahi congratulated the Armed Forces during the briefing on the “ongoing victories,” offering condolences for the martyrs, and wishing a speedy recovery for the wounded and the return of prisoners of war.
He explained that the Popular Resistance supports the Armed Forces with manpower, financial resources, and media engagement, noting the mobilisation of media professionals to support the national battle, in addition to contributions in various other fields.
He said the Popular Resistance emerged following the outbreak of the war in April 2023, stating that the first shot was fired in the attack on Merowe Airport on April 13, 2023, after which, he said, violations by the militia began.
Al-Bahi noted that Popular Resistance committees were organized across the states into mobilization and recruitment efforts, contributing to sending volunteers to the battlefronts, adding that they are present across all combat sectors.
On the civil support side, he highlighted the Popular Resistance’s contributions to essential services, particularly electricity, water, and health, noting its role in strengthening stability in Khartoum State and preparing it for the return of residents.
He also stressed the importance of expanding efforts to document militia violations and utilizing them to support diplomatic missions and international organizations in presenting these violations, in order to clarify the facts. He pointed to efforts made in launching documentation publications that reflect these violations.
