The Ministry of National Education revealed that 299 male and female children of leaders of the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia sat for this year’s Sudanese Secondary School Certificate examinations at four external centers: 213 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), 68 in Uganda, three in Kenya, and 15 in Benghazi.
The Ministry affirmed that Sudan did not prevent the children of militia leaders from taking the examinations, in accordance with international conventions and laws governing the right to education. It noted that the militia, by contrast, prevents children of citizens in areas under its control from sitting for the examinations.
