Activist Mohamed Al-Safi Nour-Eddin has announced his arrival in Sudan following what he described as a “difficult” detention experience, during which he was moved between five detention facilities, including three central prisons that he said were more akin to detention camps.

Al-Safi said he faced various charges, including criminal and civil cases, as well as others related to “state security.” The latest involved agent Dalia Al-Roubi and was subsequently classified as a state security case. He was accused of insulting Al-Roubi and the UAE-funded company she represented, making offensive remarks about the United Arab Emirates (UAE), offending the state and disturbing public security.

He said he intends to write a book detailing his experiences during this period and what he described as “the injustice inflicted by the UAE statelet on expatriates and even Emiratis, and their dire conditions inside and outside prisons.”
