The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) announced that escalating violence in the Kordofan states is placing civilians at grave risk and triggering new waves of displacement.

OCHA said the number of displaced persons (IDPs) in South Kordofan has risen sharply in recent days, with around 1,000 people fleeing Al-Goz Locality, Kadugli city, and Al-Bardab village between December 31 and January 4. The office added that approximately 2,000 people were displaced from Um Dam Haj Ahmed Locality in North Kordofan on Monday.
