Ethiopia has begun a direct intervention in Sudan following the advance of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) toward Kordofan. Preparations reportedly started in late 2025 with the upgrading of camps and airports adjacent to the states of Al-Gadarif and Blue Nile to carry out drone attacks inside Sudan.
Drone shipment flights were observed between Harar Meda base in Ethiopia and Tekirdağ Çorlu Airport in Turkey to provide additional drones. The Ethiopian Airlines plane registered ET-BBE was also tracked, which notably flew on 27 February 2026.
