Khartoum, (Nabaa Sudan) – Chairman of the Preparatory Committee for the Sudanese-Sudanese Dialogue, Professor Gasim Badri, denied reports that he had submitted his resignation from the committee, saying, “My presence on the committee is a national duty that I will not abandon, whatever the cost.”

In press statements on Thursday, Badri said the reports stemmed from a misunderstanding of remarks he had made. “What was reported about me was understood to mean that I intended to resign from the Preparatory and Facilitation Committee for the Sudanese-Sudanese Dialogue,” he said.

He explained that his remarks had been taken out of context and that he had actually been referring to his health condition and the pressures he had been experiencing as a result of the effort required to fulfill his national duty.

“What matters to me now is to affirm that my participation in the committee’s work is a national duty that I will not abandon, whatever the cost,” he stressed.
