Local sources have reported that a group described by the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) as “rebels” has taken control of large parts of Kauda, the movement’s main stronghold, and expelled the local government from the town, according to Sudan Tribune.
The sources said the group, belonging to the Atoro tribe and opposing border demarcation procedures with the Shawaya tribe, set fire to the homes of several government officials, including the SPLM-N secretary and Foreign Minister in the government aligned with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Ammar Amon Deldoum.
They added that the acts of vandalism also affected the residence of the Deputy Governor of South Kordofan (Nuba Mountains), Dawood Ishaya, in addition to the main government headquarters, as well as several churches and offices of local organizations.
