Khartoum, (Nabaa -Sudan) – Ibrahim Ahmed Ibrahim, a member of the Committee for Creating an Enabling Environment, Building Confidence and Conducting Preliminary Consultations for the Sudanese Dialogue, stressed that the dialogue should focus on establishing the state rather than attaining or sharing power, and should extend beyond political forces to encompass the various components of Sudanese society.
Speaking at the committee’s consultative meeting with media professionals at the Omdurman Cultural Center on Thursday, Ibrahim said that all segments of society are partners in shaping the country’s future. He called for the participation of native administration leaders, Sufi orders, writers, authors, artists and media professionals, alongside political parties, blocs and various societal forces.
He explained that participation does not mean bringing all these components together in a single hall. Rather, it entails organizing outreach across cities, villages and rural areas to listen to citizens’ views, concerns and proposals, and then convey their key findings to the national dialogue track.
Ibrahim added that political and military forces represent only part of the Sudanese scene and do not encompass society as a whole, noting that the dialogue should lead to consensus on a state based on institutions, a constitution and elections.
