Justice Minister: Abu Dhabi’s Military and Logistical Support Has Prolonged War and Deepened Humanitarian Crisis

Sudan’s Minister of Justice, Dr. Abdullah Mohamed Dirif, stated that the country is facing a proxy war fueled by military and logistical support from certain external states, particularly the Abu Dhabi authorities, which has prolonged the conflict and worsened the humanitarian crisis.
Addressing the high-level segment of the general debate at the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Minister Dirif emphasized that the armed insurgency, now approaching its third year, has targeted state institutions, infrastructure, and essential services. He detailed that the militias have systematically committed violations including killings, sexual violence, looting, and terrorizing civilians, in blatant breach of international humanitarian and human rights law.
