Minister of Justice Dr. Abdullah Dirif chaired a National Human Rights Mechanism (NHRM) meeting to prepare for the upcoming visit of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk in mid-January 2026.
The visit will assess human rights violations committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia since its rebellion, including meetings with state officials, the NHRM, and visits to Northern State’s Al-Dabbah area and Al-Affadh camp to hear from internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Al-Fashir and document alleged crimes.
The High Commissioner is scheduled to present his findings to the Human Rights Council in February 2026.
