Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism Khalid Al-Eisir warned that raising democratic slogans without honouring their essence or adhering to sound democratic practices renders such demands unrealistic, unlawful, and devoid of credibility, turning them into a threat to national stability—especially when advanced by actors detached from genuine freedom, democracy, and the responsible exercise of legally guaranteed rights.
In a social media post, Al-Eisir stressed that Sudan is at war, making the protection of lives, preservation of social cohesion, and support for stability the country’s top priorities. He cautioned against initiatives driven by actors outside national realities—particularly those who previously fuelled the conflict through cooperation with militias, mercenaries, and foreign powers seeking to exploit Sudan’s resources—actions that deepen divisions and invite both external and internal interference.
He criticized the selective use of democracy to justify such conduct, especially by parties that have violated civil peace, torn the social fabric, and destroyed essential services.
Al-Eisir added that Sudan faces a full-scale external threat, prompting neighbouring states—linked by shared security interests—to consider activating agreements to safeguard both their own security and Sudan’s. He stressed that the situation demands vigilance, leaving no room for recklessness or manipulation of the nation’s fate.
While affirming democracy as a universal value and national aspiration, Al-Eisir emphasized that it cannot be achieved through chaos or actions that undermine social unity and state stability. Instead, he called for responsible, peaceful, and prudent measures that prioritize the national interest over narrow agendas or hollow slogans.
He concluded by highlighting that ongoing attacks on cities—amid attempts by supporters of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to justify them—require a firm national response to end the disorder, which has left Sudan facing displacement, violations, ransacking, and widespread destruction of infrastructure and private property.
