Deputy Executive Director of Al-Dabbah Locality and Chairman of the Emergency and Crisis Committee, Al-Hassan Ibrahim Hamid, said more than 4,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) are currently sheltered at Al-Affadh displacement centre, while an estimated 10,000 others are living outside the facility.
Hamid said that nearly 30% of children at the centre require protection interventions, including those who have lost one or both parents. He stressed the importance of addressing educational and healthcare needs, particularly mental health programmes, in coordination with humanitarian partners and relevant institutions.
He also called on a delegation from the Sudanese Red Crescent Society to strengthen support for Al-Dabbah Hospital, describing it as the city's primary provider of healthcare services.
