Khartoum (Nabaa Sudan) – Prime Minister Professor Kamil Idris on Thursday inspected Al-Markhiyat Electricity Substation west of Omdurman, accompanied by Minister of Energy Eng. Al-Motasem Ibrahim and Director-General of Sudan Electricity Company Eng. Abdullah Mohamed Ahmed.
During the inspection, the Prime Minister reviewed the damage sustained by the substation after it was targeted by drones operated by the rebel terrorist Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, forcing it out of service. He also checked on the safety of the substation’s staff.
The Prime Minister commended the dedicated national efforts of the workers undertaking maintenance of the substation in preparation for restoring it to service. He directed that the necessary equipment and support be provided to help them complete their work. He added: “The drones will not frighten us or halt the state’s efforts to rebuild and reconstruct.”
For his part, Minister of Energy Eng. Al-Motasem Ibrahim explained that Al-Markhiyat substation is one of the most important substations in the infrastructure and electricity grid, serving to supply and transmit electricity to Khartoum and neighbouring areas.
He affirmed that the Ministry of Energy would press ahead with rebuilding and rehabilitating all electricity substations that had been targeted and subjected to systematic sabotage by the rebel terrorist RSF militia, restoring them to an even better condition than before.
