The Sudan Agricultural Research Corporation has resumed research activities at the Shambat Biotechnology Research Center and field operations after a three-year suspension due to the war.

The center’s Director, Rasha Adam Omer, said the Center for Biosafety and Biotechnology Research had faced a number of challenges, including war remnants and debris as well as water shortages.

She noted that the center would remain open to researchers from the Corporation working to develop agricultural crop varieties using modern biotechnology techniques.
