The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the convening of the first Political Consultation Mechanism meetings between Sudan and Azerbaijan in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku.

The Sudanese delegation was headed by Ambassador Maawia Osman Khalid, while the Azerbaijani side was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yelchin Rafayev.

A press statement from the ministry indicated that the talks focused on ways to strengthen political, economic, and technical relations between the two countries, with an emphasis on respecting Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Azerbaijani side also praised the Sudanese government’s efforts in humanitarian work and regional cooperation.
