The Sudanese Government on Friday expressed condolences and solidarity with the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria and its people following a deadly fire at an orphanage in Algiers that killed and injured several children and staff members.
The statement opened with the Quranic verse: “And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to the patient, who, when disaster strikes them, say: ‘Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.’”
The Government said: “The Government and people of the Republic of Sudan extend their deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the families of the victims of the tragic fire that broke out at an orphanage in the Algerian capital, killing a number of children and staff members and injuring others.
“As the Government and people of Sudan share the grief and sorrow of the Government and people of Algeria over this painful tragedy, they express their full solidarity with Algeria in this humanitarian disaster. They pray that Almighty Allah grant the victims His vast mercy and forgiveness, admit them into Paradise, grant the injured a speedy recovery, and give the victims’ families and the brotherly Algerian people patience and solace.”
The Sudanese Government expressed hope that Algeria would overcome the impact of the tragedy and prayed that Allah protect Algeria and its people from all harm.
