KHARTOUM (Nabaa Sudan) – The Sudanese Army has announced the downing of an enemy FH-95 drone east of the Kalamendo area in North Darfur State, as part of operations to counter drones operated by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.
Over the past two months, the army has shot down eight FH-95 drones, in addition to two other aircraft, in a series of operations aimed at reducing the capabilities of hostile drones.
The FH-95 is used for reconnaissance, electronic warfare and jamming, and can also be deployed for armed missions. Its interception can therefore affect surveillance and intelligence-gathering capabilities ahead of attacks.
Some variants of the FH-95 can remain airborne for more than 24 hours with a payload of up to 250 kilograms. CH-95 drones, meanwhile, have an estimated flight endurance of between six and 12 hours and a payload of approximately 170 to 200 kilograms.
These developments come amid continuing clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF militia, with drones serving as one of the means used for reconnaissance, monitoring movements and targeting military positions.
