The Wali of Khartoum State, Ahmed Osman Hamza, today received the Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan (CBOS), Dr. Amina Mirghani Al-Tom, who announced the full resumption of the bank’s operations in Khartoum, including the return of staff in December and the opening of a new branch. The move aims to revive economic activity and restore citizens’ access to banking services.
Dr. Amina also revealed plans to host a Microfinance Institution branch in Khartoum State and implement supportive policies to expand microfinance opportunities, attract funding from domestic and regional banks, and drive production and economic growth.
The CBOS Governor expressed gratitude to the Armed Forces and other security forces involved in the “Battle of Dignity,” highlighting that stability is essential for restoring banking and public services.
Wali Hamza praised CBOS for maintaining monetary stability and cash flow during the conflict, protecting citizens in secure areas. He called on the bank to prioritize infrastructure projects and support the state in securing funds for major service rehabilitations, while facilitating procedures and providing guarantees.
Hamza reaffirmed the state government’s full backing of CBOS, emphasizing efforts to restore all banking operations in Khartoum and encouraging commercial banks to return, boosting investment and accelerating economic recovery.
