Danger of Famine in Kadugli Declines Following Lifting of Siege

A recent report issued by the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification revealed a reduction in famine risk in Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan State, weeks after the siege on the city was lifted, although high levels of hunger persist.

The report indicated that the food security analysis in Sudan showed that the situation in Kadugli and Al-Dalang has moved from a phase of potential famine to a state of food emergency, with some households remaining at the level of food catastrophe.
