Egyptian, Saudi Foreign Ministers Call for RSF Militia Withdrawal from Sudanese Cities

The foreign ministers of Egypt and Saudi Arabia, Badr Abdel-Aati and Faisal bin Farhan, urged withdrawal of armed militias from cities in Sudan, as part of efforts to protect civilians and ensure their safety.
According to Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tamim Khalaf, the ministers held a phone call during which they discussed several regional and international issues of mutual concern, most prominently the developments in Sudan, including the humanitarian and security deterioration.
The spokesperson added that both sides discussed efforts to support de-escalation, emphasizing the importance of reaching a swift humanitarian truce as a step toward a comprehensive ceasefire and the launch of a Sudanese-led political process.
The ministers also stressed the need to establish safe corridors and humanitarian zones to protect civilians, particularly given the serious violations occurring in El-Fashir, and reiterated the importance of the armed militias withdrawing from cities to ensure civilian safety.
