Justice Minister Dr. Abdullah Dirif said Sudan is pursuing new legal avenues to bring cases against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) over war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in El Fasher, El Geneina, and Al Gezira State.
Dirif said the Higher Committee on International Litigation is preparing legal action based on evidence that the UAE provided direct military support to the RSF. He said the evidence includes weapons as well as suicide and strategic drones manufactured in 2023, 2024, and 2025, with the UAE identified as the end user.
Speaking during a visit on Thursday to an exhibition of weapons captured by the Sudanese Armed Forces from the RSF militia, Dirif said the display forms part of the committee's efforts to collect evidence and document the militia's crimes. He added that the seized weapons constitute conclusive evidence of the UAE's support for the RSF.
The minister said Sudan will pursue the cases before the International Criminal Court (ICC), the International Court of Justice (ICJ), and several US courts. He added that the legal strategy has been completed by the Higher Committee on International Litigation and the Ministry of Justice, and that the lawsuits are in the final drafting stage before formal filing.
Dirif also disclosed the existence of a memorandum of understanding between Sudan and the ICC covering crimes committed in Darfur. He expressed hope that the Court would issue arrest warrants against RSF leaders without delay, citing widespread international condemnation of the crimes committed by the group.
He noted that Sudan is not a State Party to the Rome Statute but said cooperation with the ICC on Darfur cases continues under the existing memorandum of understanding.
