Sudan’s Minister of Justice, Dr. Abdullah Dirif, affirmed the government’s commitment to following up on and implementing the recommendations of the Partners of Social Welfare Forum, and to working with state institutions to translate them into projects and programmes that have a direct impact on citizens’ lives.
Minister of Human Resources and Social Welfare Motasem Ahmed Saleh said that rebuilding Sudan begins with rebuilding its people and strengthening social protection. He noted that poverty rates have been rising as a result of conflict, with families and the middle class bearing a significant impact.
He identified five key areas outlined in the Khartoum Declaration: strategic planning; support for productive households; bank financing for low-income groups; expanding health insurance coverage; and translating the recommendations into specific, actionable programmes to ensure that assistance reaches those who need it.
