Khartoum, (Nabaa Sudan) – Popular Congress Party (PCP) Secretary-General Dr. Amin Mahmoud Mohamed Osman met Wednesday with President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, as part of a delegation of leaders and heads of national political parties and blocs. The meeting discussed general national issues, foremost among them preparations for convening the Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue conference.
Dr. Amin Mahmoud said the meeting underscored the Sudanese people’s high hopes for the planned dialogue to resolve the country’s problems and crises, stressing that the dialogue must not be derailed by procedural issues. The meeting also commended the efforts of the Dialogue Preparatory Committee and affirmed the need to support and back the committee in accordance with its mandate and responsibilities, which include creating an environment conducive to dialogue, while the conference participants would form the relevant dialogue committees to determine the topics and participating parties.
Dr. Amin Mahmoud added that the meeting addressed the crisis resulting from preventing the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council from attending the United Nations meetings in New York and the United States’ refusal to grant him an entry visa. The political leaders affirmed to the TSC President that the crisis had united citizens against external powers and enabled them to rally behind and support their government so that it could confront the aggression and face external forces. They pledged to support the government and the army until victory is achieved for the Sudanese people.
PCP Secretary-General explained that the meeting affirmed that the current economic crisis is a result of the war imposed on Sudan and part of mechanisms and attempts to bring Sudanese people to their knees, stressing that the people would confront all means of war against them. He underscored the importance of ensuring the success of the winter agricultural season in irrigated areas of River Nile and Northern states to secure food supplies and address any potential shortages or food gaps.
The Popular Congress Party Secretary-General praised Al-Burhan’s meeting with the heads of political parties and blocs, adding that at the end of the meeting, they agreed to make such meetings regular to discuss the country’s pressing issues and ways of addressing them.
