Minister of Culture, Information, Antiquities and Tourism, Khalid Al-Eisir, strongly condemned the targeting of the city of El-Obeid, civilians, and infrastructure in several villages and towns, holding the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia responsible for these attacks.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Minister said these practices constitute a serious violation of all humanitarian values and international laws that protect civilians.
He added that what El-Obeid is enduring in terms of shelling and intimidation will only increase the resilience and steadfastness of its people, describing it as a city rooted in a long history and known for its steadfast population, which will not be broken by what he described as systematic and transient chaos.
The minister reaffirmed the categorical rejection of targeting safe cities and villages in Kordofan, Darfur, and across Sudan, stressing the need to protect civilians, halt these violations, and hold those responsible accountable.
He also reassured the public that official national efforts are ongoing to strengthen protection, security, and stability in Kordofan, Darfur, and the rest of the country, with continuous work day and night to end civilian suffering.
Al-Eisir reiterated that the Sudanese Armed Forces, security agencies, and supporting forces and mobilised volunteers are continuing their national efforts to establish security, in order to end aggression, safeguard human dignity, and restore safety across Sudan.
