The South Kordofan State Minister of Education and Guidance conducted a field inspection of the damage and losses sustained by a folk cultural heritage exhibition in Kadugli following a drone strike that targeted the site.
The exhibition, which showcases both tangible and intangible heritage components, was being held at the residence of Madam Haram Ibrahim Jaamie. The inspection visit was attended by the Director of the Culture, Information, Youth and Sports Sector, Mohammed Hussein Kabbashi, along with officials from the culture, youth and sports administrations in South Kordofan.
In a press statement after the visit, the minister described the incident as a systematic targeting of the state’s cultural heritage. She said the exhibition reflects the diversity of ethnic groups and cultural expressions in the state and has the capacity to compete at local, national, and international levels.
She called for serious planning to safeguard heritage assets in secure locations and affirmed the ministry’s capacity — through the Culture and Information Sector — to rebuild and upgrade the exhibition to a higher standard and transform it into a permanent showcase. She stressed that such acts would only strengthen resolve and unity.
For his part, Director Mohammed Hussein Kabbashi said the visit aimed to assess the scale of the damage and check on civilians injured in repeated attacks on residential areas, as well as to review the impact on what he described as one of the state’s most important cultural landmarks.
He affirmed the ministry’s determination to restore the exhibition stronger than before, adding that preserving, documenting, and developing cultural heritage remains a core priority of the Culture and Information Sector.
