Khartoum (Nabaa Sudan) – Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris met on ‎Thursday with a delegation from the Eastern Africa Standby Force ‎‎(EASF), headed by Force Director Brig. Gen. Ronald Rwivanga and ‎accompanied by several members of the EASF Council of Elders. The ‎meeting was attended by Minister of Defence Lt. Gen. Hassan Daod ‎Kabroun.‎

In a press statement, the EASF Director said the meeting discussed the ‎arrangements for Sudan to assume the chairmanship of the EASF ‎Policy Organs Office next year. He explained that the office is one of ‎the three organs responsible for managing the Eastern Africa Standby ‎Force. He noted that the decision was taken at the latest meeting of ‎the Policy Organs held in Kampala, expressing his gratitude and ‎appreciation to the Sudanese government for agreeing to assume the ‎position.‎

He added that their assessment of the security situation in Sudan ‎confirmed the government’s ability to assume the chairmanship of the ‎office. He said the move reflects solidarity with Sudan, as one of the ‎member states that has actively contributed to developing the ‎institution since its establishment.‎

Brig. Gen. Ronald Rwivanga said the visit had reaffirmed their ‎confidence in the Sudanese government’s ability to manage its ‎national institutions, lead the people and move forward with post-war ‎reconstruction, following the destruction of numerous infrastructure ‎facilities. He affirmed their full solidarity with the Sudanese ‎government in its efforts to rebuild the country.‎
