A senior officer of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and a pro-RSF tribal leader, along with several soldiers, were killed in violent clashes between two groups in Khazzan Jadeed area in East Darfur.
An internal report from the RSF-aligned police chief in the area stated that the clashes occurred between a force loyal to the Second Area Commander Abdullah Abu Al-Gasim, known as Al-Dawli “international,” and another loyal to the area’s Shartai (chieftain), Mohamed Jaafar.
The report indicated that the clashes resulted in the death of five individuals, including the area commander and Shartai, and injuries to three others, with expectations that the death toll may rise as the confrontations moved to Shartai Mohamed Jaafar’s residence, which was set on fire.
According to available information, the dispute erupted after Shartai Mohamed Jaafar detained several citizens related to the killed officer, accusing them of collaborating with the army. They were reportedly held and beaten at a local detention center, with plans to transfer them to the Dagrees prison in Nyala.
