Minister of Youth and Sports, Professor Ahmed Adam Ahmed, issued an urgent national appeal for immediate intervention to recover and relocate human remains discovered at several sports facilities and open grounds within the Youth City (Ard Al-Mu’askarāt) complex in Khartoum.

The discovery followed initial cleanup campaigns that revealed makeshift graves dating back to the war period.

The minister stressed that the matter constitutes a pressing humanitarian and ethical concern requiring immediate intervention by judicial authorities and forensic teams to document, identify, and transfer the remains to official cemeteries, with support from national organizations providing technical and logistical assistance.

He also indicated that the ministry has begun coordinating a structured campaign to clear the sites in preparation for rehabilitating the facilities and resuming sports activities, affirming that the reconstruction of the sports city forms part of a broader national recovery effort. He called for unified efforts to resolve the issue without delay.
