Three Sudanese Herders Abducted by Ethiopian Shifta Near Border Village

Sources in Al-Gadarif State said that three Sudanese herders were abducted by members of the Ethiopian Shifta (Bandit) in the vicinity of Shengal village, near the Taya border area in Al-Gadarif State.

The sources said the abductors demanded a ransom of SDG 300 million in exchange for the herders' release.

The incident highlights the recurring attacks and abductions that periodically occur along the Sudan–Ethiopia border, raising concerns among local residents and herding communities. It has also renewed calls for strengthening the security presence and tightening control along the border to curb such incidents and protect citizens and their property.
